Do you struggle with making time for God? Maybe you just don’t feel like it, or maybe the busyness of life gets in your way. Here are 5 ways you can find time for Jesus, despite your to-do list.
1. Find Things in the Bible That You’re Interested In
One thing that has helped me stay interested in the Bible, is to intentionally study what interests me. Maybe you have always wondered about the book of Esther, or maybe Revelation has interested you and you want to know more about it — start there. You don’t have to follow a plan or a guide–you get to decide when and how you study the Bible.
2. Make Time For God by Listening to Worship as you Drive
If you’re like me, you spend a lot of time in your car. I spend 90 minutes — a day—in mine!
I choose to only listen to praise and worship music as I drive. It makes such a difference in my day when I have made time for reflecting on how great God is. Add worship music to your daily drive.
3. Make Time for God with Short Devotions
Find a devotional that you can read in 5 minutes. Some days, 5 minutes is quite literally all you might have to yourself.
One of my personal favorite devotional books is Jesus Calling.
It is incredible and will transform how you think about Jesus. Each devotion takes less than 5 minutes to read.
I keep this devotional on my desk where I work. When I have a few minutes to spare, I grab my book and spend time with Jesus.
4. Recognize The Enemy’s Distraction
The enemy likes to keep you busy. He doesn’t want you to find time to spend with God. He wants you distracted and disinterested in the Bible.
Be mindful of how the enemy works!
4. Find 5 Minutes in Your Day for Prayer
I know there are some days when you genuinely don’t have 5 minutes to spend alone in prayer.
But the thing is—-you must. Everything else depends on it.
I want to be a mom and a wife that shows love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control.
5. Listen to Sermon Podcasts While You Clean
Another great way to deepen your relationship with God is to listen to sermon podcasts while you clean. The cleaning has to be done anyway, might as well gain knowledge about God’s word while doing it.
Why do we need to make time for God? Because it builds a relationship with him!
If you want to connect to God spiritually, you have to make time for him.
Heavenly Father, I come before you to thank you for all you have done in my life. I thank you for your blood that was shed for my sins. Help me, Jesus, to make time for you. Reveal your spirit and your presence to me as I seek after you. Amen
I love your practical points for making time with God, Leah. It really doesn’t have to be a long stretch of time. It’s more about consistency than length. I also love those bands but have not heard of Amanda Cook. I’ll have to check her music out! Pinned and tweeted! Oh, and what a beautiful baby you have! Have a great week, my friend!
Thanks so much Beth! You will love her music !!!
So practical! I also use an app from Proverbs 31 Ministries called First5 and love it. It helps me be more consistent.
I will check that out!!

Yay! You’ll love it 😊
Love your tips, Leah! Especially #1: It’s a great reminder that it’s okay to skip around and start with what you want instead of having to go in some kind of particular order. Great post!
Glad you could benefit from them!
